Almost two years after buying it, I finally finished Tales of Symphonia. Yay~ Spoilers ahead in my thoughts of the game.
Symphonia surprised me. When I first played it, I was constantly grinding to keep levels up to a specific guide, and felt like every single instance I was grinding more and more. I got frustrated midway through because of that, and after I lost a good 6 hours of playtime because of a computer crash when I was offline from steam, I just gave up.
This time through, I said I'd only grind when I found the boss too difficult. Which occurred twice - the Seal of Fire and the final boss. Otherwise, with lots of life potions and lemon gels, I managed to get through the game with no grinding at all.
It was quite fun to have all the various puzzles in the game. I think my favorite puzzle were the gravity ones, trying to figure out which way to go. Least favorite? That darn Temple of Darkness! It took me 2 freaking hours to figure out that if I led a darkness thing to the bottom, it'd stay there. I thought I had to lead all 5 at once and there is not physical way to do that. >.<
Anyways, the game itself was fun. The plot was intriguing. The main issue? Collette.
Collette is cute. She is tragic. She is kind and sweet. It's a lovely story all together with her. And her character is great. But damn it, why is she such a damsel in distress? It's like the game can be called "What is Collette's problem this time?" Everything is about her having an issue, hiding it, and figuring out a way to solve it. Sheesh... I mean, heck, we have Raine and Sheena if we want more damsels in distress!
By the way, Sheena was my more beloved character. <3
